Seven months. It doesn’t seem possible that it’s been that long already, but at the same time, I almost can’t imagine life without Jonah anymore. His little personality continues to blossom, and we are so excited to be the parents of this super happy little boy!
We don’t know weight and length for sure at this point, but he was 17 pounds, 2.3 ounces at his six month checkup, and he definitely seems to be growing every day.
He’s wearing 6 month and 6-9 month clothes with a couple larger 3 month things sprinkled in every now and then. A lot of his 6-9 onesies fit well, but most of the pants are too big. We make it work, though! He’s also still in size 3 diapers.
Jonah does really well with sleeping through the night, which is such a huge blessing. He doesn’t always get the best naps at daycare, but most days he does great.
What He’s Been Up To
Jonah sprouted two teeth this month! We didn’t even realize the first one was there until they told me one day when I picked him up from daycare. We were so excited for him since he seemed to be “pre-teething” for so long, but then when he finally got a tooth, he showed no signs! His second tooth showed up a week or so later, and that one we noticed, though he wasn’t fussy or anything. They are front and center on the bottom, so his little smile is even cuter these days.
David and I celebrated our four year anniversary on November 17, so Jonah got to hang with some cool babysitters while we went out on our very first solo date night since he was born! Jonah had a blast with our friends Marcie and Jason as they were decorating for Christmas, and he was a huge fan of the Christmas lights, of course. We love that he’s so good with other people and doesn’t fall apart when we aren’t around. We want to be his favorites, obviously, but it’s nice that he’s such a social baby! 😉
We went on a fun trip with friends to an amazing lake house for Friendsgiving, and I think everyone really enjoyed themselves. It was a nice, slow time of good conversations, delicious food, and lots and lots of games. Jonah did great with all his Beeson aunts and uncles!
After two Friendsgivings, it was time for Jonah to celebrate his first Thanksgiving! It was such a sweet day filled with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, trying his turkey and vegetables baby food for the first time (and loving it, weirdly), using his sippy cup for the first time, and meeting lots of new family!
Jonah also got to meet his new friend Ezra this month! She arrived on December 2, and we were so excited to be in town that weekend so we could go meet her! She is perfect and beautiful and we are so happy she’s here!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Jonah got to go to his very first Christmas parade (and his first parade of any kind, actually), and we had so much fun! People on the floats were smiling and waving at Jonah and throwing him candy (which we got to keep, so that was nice!), and we even saw his daycare teacher on a float! And, of course, Santa!
Jonah is obsessed with his spoons. He gets mad when David or I have to take the spoon to give him more food because he’s perfectly content just chewing on the spoon itself. I love how the simplest things are so exciting for babies.
Christmas lights are a big favorite right now, as well. Jonah loves the Christmas tree (and the tree skirt), and if he gets fussy I’ll take him to stand near it and he’ll calm down really quickly. We might should just leave it up year round!
Jonah really loves getting down in the floor and attempting to crawl. He’s very close but can’t quite figure it out, and we have so much fun watching him try. He’s figured out how to get up on his knees but can’t put all the pieces together to actually crawl yet. He’s a master scooter, though!
Jonah still hates getting his nose cleaned up when it’s runny. He doesn’t understand that we’re just trying to help him breathe better, but whatevs.
He still gets mad when we initially put him in the car seat, but he typically calms down pretty quickly.
Jonah does not love being left alone for more than a few minutes, unless it’s bedtime. Since we have such a good bedtime routine at this point, he almost always goes right to sleep, but if we leave him in his bouncer in the living room while we’re out of the room for a bit, he gets upset. I think part of this is that he loves attention, and how can we pay attention to him if we’re not in there with him? I have no idea who he gets this particular trait from. 😉
A Parent Update
This month has been really sweet with Jonah, and I am so grateful for all the precious memories we’re creating with him during this season.
I, unfortunately, was in a really bad car accident on November 29, and that made this month a lot tougher than it should have been. I was hit head on by a careless driver (who ended up causing four cars to be totaled after all was said and done), and I was in a lot of pain after that. My whole right side was bruised really badly, and I couldn’t use my right arm for about twenty-four hours after it happened. Luckily, nothing was broken, but it was very scary and not at all something I would wish on anyone.
Thankfully, Jonah wasn’t in the car with me, and his daycare teacher took him home with her so David could take me to the ER and so we could get a new car seat (since I had his in the car when it happened, the firemen said we shouldn’t use it again, just to be safe).
Not being able to hold Jonah, even for just those twenty-four hours while the swelling and bruising went down on my arm, was really heartbreaking. I just take so many things for granted, and I’m trying to be more intentional since the wreck about everything.
I’m pretty much all healed from the wreck now, which is nice, and I’m just excited for Jonah’s first Christmas in less than a week!
Happy seven months of life, buddy! We love you so much, and we are so excited to see what else is in store for you!
